| CROSS Training was birthed out
of a great sense of need. The authors saw the need for Christians;
even evangelistically trained Christians to keep their hearts
warm to the gospel and sensitive to the lost. |
|
We talk about our beliefs. We live our values. Believers need
to value the cross of Christ. The value of the cross will be
demonstrated by the way a life is lived. |
Conversational
There was a need for a conversational approach. This
would move conversation from the head to the heart, from the secular to the
spiritual. It would facilitate real sharing and real meaning. It would discover
what others valued and treasured in their lives, giving the witness an opportunity
to share what is valued as most important in life. It would help to find
out where others stand with Christ.
With all the talk of value and meaning, there needed
to be a rallying symbol that was recognizable and conversational. The cross
of Christ is the most recognizable and popular symbol in the world about
the most important event in human history. There is no better symbol for
what evangelism is all about than the cross.
Easy to Remember
There was a need for a gospel presentation that is easy
to remember, conversational, testimonial, and can be transferable to different
mediums, such as in a conversation, a booklet, the internet, the story of
the cross and a marked New Testament. There needed to be a variety of approaches
for a variety of people. The benefits of modern technology were put into
play.
We live in a fast-paced world. Many live with time constraints
and deadlines. The training time for such a strategy needed to be short,
flexible and adaptable. CROSS Training can be done in a variety of formats.
Five different training schedules are included in the course. CROSS
Training is done in four lessons plus on-the-job training. The flexibility
of CROSS Training allows it to be used in a variety of evangelism settings
such as saturation, relational, Collegiate, church outreach and prison evangelism.
Affordable
Cost should not keep us from effectively reaching your
world for Christ. Jesus paid the ultimate price to purchase salvation. Yet
all of our budgets have limits. There is a need for high quality witness
training that is affordable.
The CROSS Training system was written with the purpose
of being administratively simple. CROSS Training includes a Leader’s Guide
what will help in the administration of CROSS Training. The Guide also includes
recommendations for a weekly outreach strategy for your church. |
